We are excited to start the 2016 - 2017 school year! Our first few days and weeks of school are intentionally designed to introduce students to the ideas of our school culture. While the school days will still begin at 8:05am and end 3:10pm, we have a arranged the schedule differently for the first few days. The details of those days are below:
September 1st - Creative Process with Advisory
All students will engage in the challenge of completing a collaborative project in one day. This low-stakes, high-fun creative experience will help students get to know their Advisory groups and provide an introduction to the creative process. The day will begin with inspiration at The John Michael Kohler Arts Center using Thinking Routines. Each Advisory will create a product that interprets a school wide theme developed from shared thinking after inspiration. (The Maker Movement is among us and the benefits such as student engagement, tinkering and innovation are pouring out of research publications like Edutopia.)

While this day is another opportunity to build community, it is also a way for students to understand their own habits and develop long term goals. Student will reflect on Service Learning Day in a way that connects students’ intentions with their academic goals for the year.
