As I wrote in the beginning of the school year, we are focused extending our connected, participatory community to our parents using our monthly Parent Connections Night. This month we will host our Parent Connections Night on October 9th starting with soup at 5:30 pm and the meeting starting at 6:00 pm. Last month the soup was such a big hit that we will keep it going. If you want to come early you can enjoy soup and get help with any other questions you have.
The focus of the meeting is two fold. First of all, we want parents to understand our grading system. It is a standards based grading system that provides feedback on specific outcomes in content knowledge. It also provides feedback on Habits of Professionalism. Understanding this can help you have an ongoing dialogue with your child about how they are doing in school, what their strengths and areas of growth are. Secondly, we want to ensure that parents have the tools necessary to access their child’s grades and the information necessary to effectively interpret what they see in the grading system. We will accomplish this in a way that helps to continue to build our strong parent community.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday, October 9th at 6:00 pm. Soups on!
