Lakeland University Admissions Advisor Christine Kastner Eck talked with IDEAS students about options during her visit Wednesday, October 12, in the Treehouse.
“I’m here to help you manage all the choices that you have,” Kastner Eck said, “including, but not just Lakeland.” She explained the importance of developing prior knowledge as a basis for comparison when choosing a college.
Students learned about scholarship opportunities, financial aid, and the role of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in determining actual college costs. They received brochures outlining majors and minors offered at Lakeland. Smiles surrounded the table at the prospect of study abroad on the Lakeland University-Japan campus, at sister schools in Europe and Asia, and through shorter travels.
Students inquired about campus jobs and security, and how to get a closer look at what a college day is like. They learned they can set up personal visits for tours, meetings with professors, and classroom experiences.
The next College Preview Day at Lakeland University is Saturday, November 5 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Register online.
