IDEAS Academy's portable shelter will soon have a new home.
Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin will be at IDEAS Academy on Wednesday, September 7th from 2pm – 3pm to dedicate the shelter, thank the students for their work and transport the Portable Shelter to its new home at the James A. Peterson Veterans Village in Racine.
Students have been working all summer on the completion of the Portable Shelter. This is a project that they designed, developed, and implemented. We had many community and regional supporters for the project which resulted in building a “tiny home” for a homeless veteran in Wisconsin.
We believe this is true service learning for our students. They were able to learn critical architectural, engineering, and construction skills while giving back to someone who gave so much to our country!
