Senior Institute January 20, during Advisory, will focus on FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Seniors will set up their individual accounts and make a list of information they will need from parents.
FAFSA is the first step in securing money for college. It is a way to acquire government grants, scholarships and loans. Students will find out what kinds of financial aid they are qualified to receive. The FAFSA Web site at www.fafsa.gov also offers links to career planning tips and college selection and application help. An interest survey can guide students in learning where their strengths may take them.
Students seem to appreciate the shared experience of Senior Institute, a time when questions are addressed and collaboration can ease anxiety. This is another step in our process of helping students make good decisions about their futures. They can see the possibilities.
Parents are welcome to contact our College Readiness Coordinator, Tad Phippen Wente, at twente@etudegroup.org with questions about FAFSA or any other steps in the college application process.
