Exhibitions of Learning give students an authentic means of communicating their ideas and learning through semester-long projects. All IDEAS students are enrolled in what we call IDEAS Block, which is a combined inquiry and studio period. Students begin the semester by making observations about themselves, their community, and the world around them. They then craft generative questions that guide their academic research. Through a scaffolded research process, students explore disciplinary foundations as well as contemporary voices that inform, extend, and complicate their inquiry. One outcome of this process is an original thesis. Through a formal paper with an annotated bibliography and at Exhibitions of Learning, students share and defend their thesis. To further their understanding and engage others in new thinking, students create an original interpretation of their ideas.
Please join us for two evenings of thought-provoking conversation and original work!
