EOS and Amity Skateboards are sponsoring the next Étude Sessions concert, featuring Minnesota band Rogue Valley, at Paradigm Coffee and Music April 8 at 8 p.m.
EOS is a locally-owned active outdoor shop that specializes in selling paddle and surf boards and also gives private lessons. Amity Skateboarding is a wholesale skateboard company that creates and sells mass product to businesses. Amity boards other skateboarding gear is available locally at Rev Board Shop, which is below EOS at their new shop on 8th Street in Sheboygan.
EOS has been in business for nearly 18 years, according to owner, Mike Miller. It started as a snowboarding and skate shop but has changed over the years to cater to the large surfing community in Sheboygan. Amity has been in business for three years. “I was born and raised in Sheboygan, saw what we had and didn’t, and wanted to create something new,” Miller said.
Miller has sponsored many other events in the Sheboygan area including their yearly SUP ’n Surf stand up paddle board race and skate events. Andrew Jakus, owner of Amity Skateboards, has also sponsored numerous events including Going Big in the Bay, Earthfest, the Boys and Girls Club Skate Club, and Eau Claire Skaters Association.
Jakus is an alumnus of the Étude School. ¨I understand the importance of giving an alternative method for learning; The Étude Group gives that ability to the youth,” Jakus said.
Miller knows teachers who work at IDEAS Academy. He said he hopes that by sponsoring the Étude Sessions he will help bring people new experiences and more visitors to the city. “[The Étude Sessions] brings local bands and new people to town, supporting and growing the Sheboygan community,” Miller said. “[They] bring new music, a nice venue, and create a sense of newness as far as music goes.¨ Jakus has attended a recent Étude Sessions concert and enjoys that they bring together different demographics in the community.
¨As long as The Étude Group continues to support the community we will continue to support The Étude Group,¨ Jakus said. Miller said he also plans to continue to support and sponsor the Étude Sessions.
