As one of ESAA's upper primary teachers, Mrs. Faul takes steps every day to make sure that all students are engaged in authentic learning and deep thinking.
Walking into Mrs. Faul's classroom, one can feel the respect that she has towards students, and in turn, the students have toward her, and there is always a calm buzz of students working and learning in groups, or independently seeking feedback from others. A parent shared these impressions: "Mrs. Faul takes the time to truly know each of her students and values the strengths each child brings to her classroom community. She teaches students to be self‐advocates. Students feel entirely safe with her – they know her to be fair, just, understanding, empathetic and comforting." A student confirmed, "Mrs. Faul made me feel safe in the classroom to take chances and try new things," and Ms. Griffiths, ESAA Dean of School, added that "Mrs. Faul's students are engaged and willing to take risks in their learning, because [she] has set up a classroom culture where all students know they are valued."
Mrs. Faul is a leader among her colleagues at ESAA, an Étude Group Governing Board member, and has now been recognized by the Sheboygan Area School District as Elementary Teacher of the Year. She is very deserving of this acknowledgement. We look forward to continuing to learn from Mrs. Faul as she develops and generously shares her practices in Sheboygan's community of teaching and learning.
The Sheboygan Area School District will honor Mrs. Faul at the Board of Education meeting on May 23rd. Please join us in recognizing one of our outstanding teachers.
