Beginning in Fall 2015, The Elementary School for the Arts & Academics will offer daily transportation to and from our school.
Our goal with transportation is to make our north side campus more accessible to families living across Sheboygan. In order to create a plan that will meet the specific needs of our community members, we are seeking input from current families and families considering enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year.
Please complete the following survey to share your family's interest in transportation and share this blog post with anyone you know who may be interested in enrolling:
ESAA Transportation : School Bus Survey 2015-2016
The survey will be open through the first week in February. We will follow up with a blog post and an informational meeting later in February. Families can sign up for transportation in March, and routes will be released in April.
If there are any questions regarding transportation, please contact our Dean of School, Susan Griffiths. For questions regarding enrollment, please contact our Enrollment Coordinator, Brittany Hattabaugh.
Background
ESAA moved to it's current campus at 3508 North 21st Street prior to the 2013-2014 school year. While we were sad to leave our downtown campus because of the neighborhood and accessibility, we continue to find that our Pigeon River campus is an ideal location for our educational program. The natural environment and open spaces create endless opportunities to enrich projects with place-based observing, thinking, wondering, and discovering. (You can read more about students Mapping our Campus and Observing Native Birds through their projects.)
This fall we started the process of transforming the outdoor spaces between classrooms from turf to observation gardens. In Phase One of the project, our students used pesticide-free methods to ensure that the spaces would be ready for planting this spring. As the gardens develop, they will continue to be both physical and intellectual extensions of our classrooms.
We are excited about the opportunities at our new campus, and offering transportation will mean that these opportunities are more accessible to all families who would like to be part of our community.
